Dear Minister Wallace ( Premier),
Your department’s ( government’s ) actions in relation to Cathedral Drive are of an era that people will no longer tolerate. How is it that you can preach to be ‘clean and green’ and yet carry out such blatant acts of environmental vandalism?
While Main Roads’ exemptions mean that the department is not in breach of legislation, Main Roads is nevertheless clearly in breach of the intent of the following legislation and policies:- Vegetation Management Act, Nature Conservation Act (including its Koala State Planning Policy and Offsets Policy), Environmental Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act (Federal); not to mention the vast amount of government policies relating to climate change, sustainable development ….
This is yet another embarrassing example of the Smart State acting DUMB and perpetuating Queensland’s image as a ‘Redneck State’.
